Company Establishment Procedure

This process describes the
company establishment procedures in Malaysia.

Incorporation / Registration

Determination of shareholders/founders (directors), company name and company secretary. It takes one to two weeks to complete.

Open Bank Account

It usually takes about one week to complete the process (varies by bank).

Increase Capital

Min. Paid-up capital:RM1 million for non-manufacturing companies. It takes about one month to be reflected in the system after the capital increase is processed.

Business License

It takes about one month to complete the procedure. Usually valid for one year (January-December), it must be renewed after it expired.

WRT License

It takes approximately 9 months to acquire an approval. It is not necessary to obtain the license if a majority of the capital is held by a local shareholder.

Registration for expatriate quota (ESD)

Apply for ESD to the immigration office. It takes about two to three months to complete.

Application for Employment Pass(ESD)

Apply for Employment Pass (EP). It takes about one to two months to complete.
