We’re excited to announce the expansion of our team of professionals with Carmen Leong, joining our Mergers & Acquisitions department.

Starting her career at MUFG Bank (Malaysia) Berhad after graduating with a Bachelor’s degree in Contemporary Cultures from Surugadai University in Saitama, Japan, she initially played a supporting role within the Corporate Banking department. Her focus was on assisting officers with banking operations and translations, particularly leveraging her bilingual skills. To further solidify her knowledge, she participated in JLEP training in Japan after two years, gaining a deeper understanding of banking practices and the intricacies of the Japanese business language.

Upon returning from Japan, she transitioned into a Relationship Manager role. She played a pivotal role in managing credit analyses and crafting tailored solutions for Japanese corporate clients. This included providing financing options like loans, facilitating trade finance, and offering foreign exchange hedging strategies. Through these efforts, she fostered strong relationships with Japanese clientele.

In 2024, she joined LIKEARISINGSUN. By leveraging her extensive banking experience, she now primarily supports M&A origination, acting as a bridge between Japanese and Malaysian entities involved in merger and acquisition transactions. This role allows her to utilize her expertise in both business cultures to facilitate seamless cross-border transactions.
