A serial article (vol.142) regarding M&A in Malaysia written by our CEO was featured in The Daily NNA Malaysia Edition (Published on 3rd April 2024). This article introduces expansion of Japanese companies into Malaysia in 2023.
In this article, the newly announced 2023 New and Expanding Businesses in Malaysia by Japanese Companies graphically summarises the businesses conducted in Malaysia by industry sector. Manufacturing is the most common sector, followed by services and renewable energy projects. Looking at the M&A method of expansion, a total of 13 cases were made, of which 10 cases were expansion through M&A and three cases were new expansion through M&A. It is not always common for M&A to be used for new expansion, with M&A often being done by companies already operating in Malaysia.
