Recognizing that corruption is one of the causes of economic stagnation in Malaysia, the country is committed to combating corruption, and from 1 June 2020, amendments to the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission Act have been enacted to make companies and directors, in addition to the employees themselves, liable for corruption. The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission Act 2009 (“MACCA”) Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission Act 2009 (“MACCA”)
This seminar will provide an overview of the MACCA Amendment Act, the whistleblower system, and the procedures for internal hearings in the event of a violation of MACCA, as well as other important points that Japanese companies operating in Malaysia should keep in mind.
